Caught in Lies

Sometimes I may get caught up in the story and not think about the possibility of it being factitious but overall, I usually take it into consideration. Everyone has their own opinions so it is very easy to get the real facts messed up with opinions or beliefs other people have said. Also, because more things are done through the internet, it is easier for an unreliable source to publish something without people knowing they are just a random persons thoughts. My reaction to the first half of the "Jimmy's World" article was that it seemed like a very interesting mystery but once I got to the last few paragraphs, I was shocked by what was said. If it is true that the journalists pressured her to have a story, then they must have been in desperate need for a thrilling article. That makes you wonder how many other times those kind of incidents could have occurred where nobody every found out. With the second article, I was surprised that a large paper company would use unre

Hard News VS Soft News

Soft News During this article, it talks about how popular the Bundlestone boots are. The whole article gives examples on how popular they are and that they have been on a constant incline since they've been created in the 1800's. This is an example of soft news because it does not have much importance and would only appeal to individuals who like that kind of shoes or are interested in them. http://www.cbc.ca/beta/news/canada/newfoundland-labrador/breaking-down-the-blundstone-boom-1.4361947 Hard News Within this article, a woman faced a weird condition where she would sweat blood during physical activity. After many countless appointments with doctors, they came to a conclusion that the female suffered from Hematohidrosis. This is definitely hard news because it was so baffling and made a lot of extremely intelligent doctors works for a long time to get the results they got. This news article would appear to anyone because of how rare of a case it was. http://www.cbc.ca/n

What is Newsworthy?

Nazi Rally Meets Heavy Security Timing-(4/4) The timing on this article is perfect as it is just happening and the public will be having a lot of questions on this topic after seeing countless stories of it on the news. Significance-(4/4) The significance of this article is to give the audience a better understanding of what is going on which they did very well and in detail. Proximity- (4/4) As I read this article, it felt very close to home because of it happening in the country beside the one I live in. Prominence- (2/4) Although there was a man mentioned that was in the military that gave it a bit of publicity, there weren't many famous individuals that sparked up the news article so for that reason alone, people would not find it as interesting. Human interest- (4/4) I think this topic would create a lot of interest and although it may be mostly disruptiveness because of the strong opposing opinions this topic seems to have, it would draw a lot of attention. Writing the News Articles

Playing with Fire The horrible effects of drugs and driving that may make you rethink whether it is really worth the risk. On May 17, 2011, a young male and his girlfriend are celebrating their two years of being together by having "a little fun". The 19-year-old male and 18-year-old female decide to try a street drug a friend had given them a few weeks past. Not thinking far into the night, they drive to an old mill approximately thirty minutes away from the males house to inject this drug so there would be no way he could get caught by his parents. What once seemed like a great idea quickly turned around for the worst. After using up all the drugs they had, the couple decided out of a lucid mind that it was appropriate to now make their journey home. Even after knowing they were not capable of driving, they kept going as they thought they were invincible. Ten minutes from the house, something appeared to be on the road so they attempted to swerve around it but did

Starting With The Basics

Top Five Travel Destinations in Fall This article was about the five best places to travel in the fall. The reason this article captured my attention was to catchy entry line. I believe it is effective because it becomes personal when he is talking about his own personal life so it makes the readers feel like they are not just reading from the computer. It also makes you wonder what his reasoning is behind it especially if you are a traveler. The only way they could improve would be to make the introduction shorter because people with extremely low attention spans may not get to the second line to be captured. This article is dedicated towards travels and focuses on five places around the world; Ottawa (Canada), Aix-en-Provence (France), Zion National Park (Utah), Kyoto (Japan), and Buenos Aires (Argentina). His focus is to advise travelers to go during the fall because he believes that during that time, is when it is at its finest and will create the best experience. Adam Bisby says
